The goals of US foreign policy

What have been the goals of US foreign policy since the end of the Cold War  Has the US been successful in achieving these goals. The goal of U.S. Foreign Policy was simple: Containment of the spread of communism, and thereby the influence of the U.S.S.R. , by supporting governments or rebel groups that opposed communism. President Reagan’s strategy to accelerate the demise of the Soviet Union consisted of five pillars: economic, political, military, ideological, and moral.
