The historical context

In his book, How to Read the Bible for All Its Worth, Dr. Gordon Fee differentiates between the historical and literary contexts of letters. He explains that the historical context includes the time and place in which the letter was written, as well as the author’s purpose for writing it. The literary context, on the other hand, includes the letter’s structure, genre, and style.
