The impeachment trial of President Donald Trump

The lead story for both programs was the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump. For Fox News, this story was given top priority and was the focus of the majority of the broadcast. For MSNBC, this story was also given top priority, but there was also significant coverage of other stories, such as the coronavirus outbreak and the presidential primaries.

There were some similarities in the way that the two programs covered the impeachment trial. Both programs had interviews with legal experts and politicians, and both provided analysis of the trial proceedings. However, there were also some significant differences. For example, Fox News was much more likely to feature interviews with Republicans, while MSNBC was much more likely to feature interviews with Democrats. Additionally, the two programs had different perspectives on the trial.

Fox News generally painted the trial as a waste of time and a political attack on the president, while MSNBC generally painted the trial as a serious constitutional issue.

I saw a lot of things that were relevant to my reading about the media in our text. For example, I saw that Fox News was much more likely to feature interviews with Republicans and to paint the trial as a waste of time, while MSNBC was much more likely to feature interviews with Democrats and to paint the trial as a serious constitutional issue.

This is an example of media bias, which we talked about in our text. I also saw that both programs had interviews with legal experts and politicians, and both provided analysis of the trial proceedings. This is an example of the way that the media can provide information and context to help viewers understand complex issues.

There was a clear political bias in the way that the two programs covered the impeachment trial. Fox News was much more likely to feature interviews with Republicans and to paint the trial as a waste of time, while MSNBC was much more likely to feature interviews with Democrats and to paint the trial as a serious constitutional issue.

This bias affects me as a viewer by causing me to be more critical of the information presented by Fox News. I am also more likely to question the motives of the network when it comes to its coverage of political news. As a thinker, this bias makes me more aware of the potential for media bias and the need to consider multiple sources of information.

As a voter, this bias makes me more likely to pay attention to the political leanings of the networks I am watching and to be more critical of the information they are presenting
