TRANSPORTATION OUT OF STATE FOR OFFENSE

Sec. 20. OUTLAWRY OR TRANSPORTATION OUT OF STATE FOR OFFENSE. No citizen shall be outlawed. No person shall be transported out of the State for any offense committed within the same. This section does not prohibit an agreement with another state providing for the confinement of inmates of this State in the penal or correctional facilities of that state. (Feb. 15, 1876. Amended Nov. 5, 1985.) What is the right that is mentioned? What does it mean (in your own words)?

Find a Supreme Court case (US or Texas) dealing with the issue brought up by the right you are mentioning. What were the facts of the case? What right did the person claim they had? What was the court’s decision? And finally, do you agree with the outcome of the case and why? Be sure to include a link to the case you chose.
