Describe treatments for psychological disorders
There are many well-supported treatments for psychological disorders. What are the effects of treatment? How do you know that a treatment works for a psychological disorder? What evidence is suggestive of effectiveness?
Make a discussion of how a specific treatment (assuming it is effective) would change the symptoms of a specific disorder. Discuss what disorder and treatment you selected and the ways in which you would expect that treatment to change the symptoms of that disorder. Think about the cognitive, biological, emotional, and social changes you would see. Also, consider what might not change. Certain treatments might not affect certain symptoms, even if the treatment is highly effective for other symptoms. Keep in mind, however, that you may not need to directly treat symptoms to see change. As an example, changing the way I think could have an impact on how I interact with others.
