COVID-19 vaccinations for children
This week you will work with an assigned team to design a web link survey. You are conducting a cross-sectional survey of 1,000 parents of children ages 5-11 years randomly selected using a list of residential addresses. Eligible individuals include residents of Cook County, IL who are 18 years or older who understand English and are the parent or legal guardian of at least one child ages 5-11. The survey should not take your participants longer than 30 minutes to complete.
The purpose of your research study is to describe:
- Attitudes about COVID-19 vaccinations for children ages 5-11 by sociodemographic characteristics and health characteristics
- Effects of COVID-19 on mental health on children by sociodemographic characteristics and other health characteristics
You may choose to refine these questions if you would like. For example, you may want to name certain health characteristics or specific mental health disorders. Note you are only interviewing the parents, not the children, so you will need to have parents reporting answers for children.
You will submit two documents, a) an overview of important considerations for your survey and b) a copy of the survey, ready for administration to your participants.
A. Your overview should include:
- State the mode of administration
- Create domains table to organize your variables – make sure it is labeled with a title, column headings, etc. Ideally, your domains table would include a column with the source(s) of the variables in each domain.
- A paragraph explaining why you needed to write original questions for the survey items you wrote.
- A paragraph explaining, in general, why you chose the sources you used for previously developed questions.
