A fibrous root system  that penetrates deep into the soil accessing underground water and minerals during drought in which large numbers of relatively equal-sized roots arise from the base of the plant immediately below the ground consisting of a large tapering root with smaller side branches absorbs rainwater on the plant’s surface a large, central, and dominant root from which other roots sprout laterally.
