The budgetary information

Find a recent project or program offered by a local or state department or agency or a nonprofit organization. You are going to want to find one in which the budgetary information is available publicly.

prepare a budget analysis summarizing the cost-benefit analysis and sources of funding for the project you selected. For the organization that outlines current revenues and expenses, indicate if there is a surplus or deficit in revenue and describe 3 primary expenditure activities and 3 primary revenue sources for the department/agency or nonprofit.

Be sure to use the following information to analyze the budget:

  • Organization’s overall budget (current revenue and expenses)
  • Surplus or deficits in revenue
  • Descriptions of 3 primary expenditure activities and 3 primary revenue sources for the organization
  • Key stakeholders

In the analysis, discuss the following questions:

  • How will this analysis be used for making decisions regarding public expenditures?
  • Which economic theory influenced your cost-benefit analysis, and how did it do so? If it did not influence the cost-benefit analysis, explain why.
