Some factors limit respiratory therapists’ ability to wean patients from ventilators. There are several suggestions listed in this chapter as to how RTs can improve patient comfort and minimize imposed ventilatory loads to facilitate weaning. What changes can you as an RT make to help your patient be successfully liberated from mechanical ventilation?
