Compensable Factor for Music Therapist

A Human Resources employee is tasked to apply job evaluation criteria to new or existing positions, and write a background note for review.

Music therapy is fairly new to the treatment scene. It started after musicians played for hospitalized World War I and World War II veterans, and it’s now an established form of therapy beneficial to our emotional, cognitive and physical health.

Music therapists are educated in music and sound theory, in addition to psychology and medicine, and use techniques such as singing, listening to music and creating music. These various techniques are forms of rehabilitation and stress and anxiety relief, and they open the door to verbal communication.

Evaluate the position Music Therapist (from your perspective) using the Compensable Factors in table Tables 8.1 and then in comparison to the positions listed in table 8.2.

Step 1: table and record the points for each Compensable Factor for Music Therapist (similar to Table 8.1 but for the position Music Therapist.)   Determine and record the total the points.

Step 2:  Once you have calculated the total points for Music Therapist, proceed to verify the position immediately above and immediately below (table 8.2), and then research salaries for the three positions.

Refer to the specific Rubric for how this assignment will be scored.
