Identifying a Social Problem

TOPIC #3 – Identifying a Social Problem, ASSIGNMENTS #3: Before someone can initiate change, they must first understand the gravity of the underlying problem. There are so many social issues that plague our nation: food insecurity, student loan debt, racism/discrimination, gun violence, child welfare laws, discrepancies in the criminal justice system etc. Choose a social problem that you have encountered in the span of your career. Be sure to note where (what job/agency) you experienced this issue. Include at least “two” opposing views of what created the problem. Through a literature review, provide the history of the problem and connect this national issue to an agency/organization where you worked/volunteered. Students must select a problem that is consistent with their prior work knowledge and illustrates a comprehensive understanding of institutional structures, systemic mechanisms and processes, and the relationships necessary for transformation and promotion of national interest.
