Mary Sue has undergone a mastectomy for treatment of breast cancer and is now receiving chemotherapy. What general guidelines should be considered when breast cancer and treatment are coded? What must be determined for the coder to properly code a neoplasm? Would the coder report the breast cancer along with the chemotherapy code as a current disease?
