Mental delays and disabilities

A term that I can remember being acceptable when I was younger was saying the word “gay”. That word was used to describe something that was lame. For example, ” that’s gay that we have to come to school super early tomorrow.” Today, using that term in that same context can easily be seen as insensitive. A few other terms that I can think of are “retard”  and  “moron”. These words were commonly used to offend and insult people, especially their intelligence. These words can be seen as insensitive as there are people with mental delays and disabilities. In my opinion, the changes are for the better. I also feel that today’s society is a lot more inclusive and considerate of not just the general people.  However, I  feel that maturity also has to play.  As we grow older, the things we use to find funny or fun are not.  We just simply grow up.
