The social determinants of health
This week we will look at the social determinants of health. The social determinants of health are the conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work and age, including the health system. These circumstances are shaped by the distribution of money, power and resources at global, national and local levels.
Think about your own environment where you grew up and answer the the following questions in your post:
What are some examples of the ways your local environment (e.g. neighborhood, town or city) influenced the health of the people around you? Discuss at least two specific examples. (You may wish to add both positive factors that benefited health, and negative factors that may have caused harm).
