Transnational advocacy networks (TANs) will often attract individuals in wealthy countries to support changes in less developed countries (LDCs), particularly for issues related to health, the environment, and human rights.

What impact is this dependence on far-away financial supporters likely to have on the work of the TAN in the host country? Are there examples where the priorities of the TAN’s supporters differ from those of its intended beneficiaries?
