Current research on multicultural counselling in Canada

In light of the current research on multicultural counselling in Canada, identify avenues for future research and ways in research findings can guide and advance cultural diversity in counselling theory and practice.

The last post is due at the end of Sunday of this unit.

Importance of Multicultural Counseling Today

This changing landscape of professional clinical practice means counselors may benefit from having a multicultural perspective, an understanding in racial identity, and proper training to work with clients (and colleagues) who lead lives different than their own.

You work at an adult day program for individuals with Developmental Disabilities.

One of the adults in
the program, Lucy, frequently requests to use the restroom during the morning vocational skills training
period.

Sometimes Lucy will ignore staff redirection to the task and use the restroom multiple times
within one hour.

Medical issues have been rules out and the staff suspects that Lucy is trying to escape
from her vocational task demands. However, they are unsure which specific demands she dislikes.

1. List the 4 steps of the modeling process in the order in which they occur. 1. Attention – If you are going to learn anything, you have to be paying attention.

2. Retention – You have to be able to remember what you paid attention to.

3. Reproduction – You have to translate images into actual behavior.

4. Motivation- Push yourself to be willing to achieve in what you are learning. Provide a "real world" example of how a video game can have prosocial and antisocial effects.

Depending on the game, a game like super Mario can have prosocial effects, or maybe even a cooking game. games like call of duty, or grand theft auto can promote antisocial effects, like aggression, frustration, competition, and anger.

Describe the psychosocial development theory of Erik Erikson ?

The case study of Greg best fits the psychosocial development theory of Erik Erikson. According to Erikson’s theory, people experience eight phases of development, each of which is connected to a distinct psychological task.

Before proceeding to the next step, the duties related to each one must be completed. Greg is now engaged in Erikson’s seventh stage of development, which has to do with the choice between generativity and stagnation.

At this point, people need to figure out how to help the future generation. Those who are unable to participate could become inert.

Greg has to finish his assignment, which is perhaps why he wants to look for a career that has more purpose and fulfilment.

He could believe that his present work is not benefiting the future generation and that, as a result, he is not accomplishing his goals.

Greg’s motives and actions may be understood using the theory of psychosocial development, and his requirements can be taken into consideration while developing an advancement strategy.

What would be a good company for Greg to work for?

What would the company’s vision, mission, and goals be?

What would the company’s brand statement be?

Discussion: Quasi-Experimental Design

Review the article Cyber Bullying Prevention: Intervention in Taiwan and consider quasi-experimental design. Address the following question: Does lack of random participant assignment in quasi-experimental design undermine experimental data? Why or why not?

Develop a condition under which quasi-experimental design would be the most useful research design. Describe the benefits of using this design.

According to some researchers, sibling sexual abuse is the most common form of incest.

What are some of the possible negative consequences of sibling incest? Why may group therapy be helpful in the treatment of adult survivors?

This may be any family member, a family friend, clergy, another child, or anyone who betrayed the child’s innocence and trust. SIA maintains that incest survivors were affected by the abuse whether it occurred once or many times since the damage was incurred immediately.
