Termination Activity

Discussion Forum 1: Termination Activity

Identify a population group that you currently work with or would like to work with. Develop a termination activity to be used with this population, in the event you had facilitated a group with them. Be specific in the activity so that your classmates can recreate the activity in their own practice.

  • What are the goals of this termination activity?
  • What are the benefits of this termination activity?
  • What are some of the limitations of this activity?
  • Provide a detailed description of how to implement the activity.

The importance of adult reinforcement of early speech

Some experts emphasize the importance of adult reinforcement of early speech (nurture) and others suggest that language learning is innate and biologically wired (nature). Reflect on this week’s video, "Out of the Mouth of Babes." Which language development theory does this video emphasize, and how can you tell? To support your answer, provide an example of one of the experiments and explain how it fits in to the learning theory process you identified

How babies are communicating via music, babbling and even temper tantrums!

In this module you learned some very basic information about the stages of language development. But this assignment will take you into a much more nuanced understanding of how babies are communicating via music, babbling and even temper tantrums!

Please listen to this NPR Hidden Brain podcast, “Decoding the secret language of babies” 00:30:29 with Shankar Vedanta again as host. Then please answer the following questions.
Aspect A: Reflect at least two things that intrigued you about studying infant language development. Make sure to directly reference the research discussed in the podcast.

Counselor comprehensive assessment

Assessment of addictions is a very complex process. Counselors must ask questions about a variety of issues and risk factors, not just drug and alcohol usage or patterns. Read the case study below. As a clinician, how would you begin a comprehensive assessment process and what tools would you use? What risk factors would you consider in this case and what are the implications of the client’s overall risk? What questions might you ask and what areas do you want to gather more information in order to obtain an accurate diagnosis? Provide a rationale for your assessment process with evidence from your readings and use outside scholarly sources.

Becky is a 19-year-old African American female who identifies as lesbian. She is a first-year undergrad student with an undeclared major. Her primary reason for counseling is that she wants to be better able to control her anger, enough that she doesn’t become violent and hurt others.

She reports that there are several students that irritate her and there have been times that she has verbally threatened others. Becky said that she was encouraged by one of her closer friends to see a counselor because others are intimidated by her. She explained that she grew up witnessing and knowing friends involved with gang related violence.

Becky shared that she has been sexually assaulted more than once. She said that she has never trusted anyone completely. She explained that her primary motivation of controlling her anger is to stay in college, because she feels she can improve her life, and this is a better option for her than living at home. Becky said that it has been stressful for her to conform to the college environment and follow the rules.

She has had a hard time adjusting but relies on her one friend here for support. She denies symptoms of depression; she reports eating and sleeping normally, and she is attending her classes and completing her work. She said that she drinks alcohol and uses marijuana on a regular basis, about 3-4 times a week.

She primarily drinks hard alcohol and she occasionally has blackouts. She explained this is normal for her as she drinks and smokes this much with friends back home. She didn’t want to talk about her romantic relationships; she said she was gay and she was fine with it.

Role of nursing from a perspective of care

The nursing philosophy statement needs to come from the perspective that care is the foundation of nursing for which all other skills are built. All opinions are from a personal perspective but need to be backed up by pertinent nursing theory and research. The theorist that I would like to highlight in the section on theory is Jean Watson. Define the role of nursing from a perspective of care. The principles guiding my practice are patient-centered care and that nurses are teachers and advocates for the patients under their care. My influences are my mother. She was a psychiatric nurse at a pilgrim psychiatric center for 25 years and always went the extra mile to care for patients the world had forgotten. She would make their birthday cakes and bring them clothes in addition to exemplary nursing care. I apply that example to my pediatric nursing practice and strive daily to be an advocate and teacher for my patients and their families. I intend to do that and more when I am a family nurse practitioner. I want to become an FNP because I love to help people, and my Christian values propel me. I intend to impact society on a smaller scale because I want to make a real impact in my patient’s lives and have the time to do it. In healthcare, we are always in a rush, and I want to slow down and care for families. All points in the rubric attached must be addressed and discussed in detail and again with current nursing theory and research to back it up.

Human cloning for a debate

Enrique was assigned human cloning for a debate in his speech class. He really didn’t know where he stood on the issue and wanted to learn more, so he looked at this Web site: https://learn.genetics.utah.edu/content/cloning/whyclone/

He also checked https://www.genome.gov and searched for fact sheet. Enrique had a greater understanding after he read the information, and he concluded that although he might prefer no human cloning, he could also argue for the other side.

After reading the information at the two Web sites, take a stance on human cloning. Write at least three paragraphs to clarify your position.

Home repairs and modifications expenses

Home repairs and modifications can be expensive, depending on the extent of the work required; however, there are many federal, state, and local assistance programs designed to help older adults in the lowest income ranges acquire these necessary home improvements.

These programs generally have income limits to determine who qualifies for assistance, but there are many households that have too much income to get assistance yet don’t have enough to truly afford the repairs or modifications they need. What can churches and religious organizations do to help bridge that gape

State requirements for licensed counselor

What is the reason that each state has different requirements for becoming a licensed counselor? I know that each state has a licensure board that is in charge but why isn’t there national consistency?

The specific question i was asked was “why do you think that licensure requirements are different for each state if ensuring the welfare of the clients is a consistent principle for counselors across the country?”
