The electromagnetic quantum vacuum is a form of light

Here’s astrophysicist Bernard Haisch: “The electromagnetic quantum vacuum is a form of light. It is an underlying sea of energy that permeates every tiny volume of space, from the emptiest intergalactic void to the depths of the Earth, the Sun, and our own bodies. Our world of matter is like the visible foam atop a very deep ocean of light.” Discuss the significance of this description for human physiology and identity.

Allow patients to directly book open appointments online

As a practice manager, you would like to allow patients to directly book open appointments online, but your plans are being challenged. Some staff believe this process will contribute to more no-shows. Others say they value the flexibility to arrange patient appointments based on the most efficient use of a physician’s workday and/or the patient’s complaint. How would you respond to these concerns?

How do you use the Microsoft word edit tools to interface documents ?

A disease characterized by a decrease in the production of thyroid hormone

Hypothyroidism, a disease characterized by a decrease in the production of thyroid hormone, is hypothesized to increase the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD).  In a follow-up study of 1,000 men aged 55 years and older, the investigators are interested in the potential impact of subclinical hypothyroidism on the incidence of myocardial infarction. The overall cumulative incidence of CVD in this cohort was 1.8%. The cumulative incidence of CVD was 12.8% among the 47 men with subclinical hypothyroidism and 1.3% among men without hypothyroidism. The overall prevalence of subclinical hypothyroidism in the cohort was 4.7%.

Q: Assuming causality, what proportion of CVD in men aged 55 and above with subclinical hypothyroidism can be prevented by treating all men with subclinical hypothyroidism with thyroid hormone replacement therapy? Calculate the etiologic fraction among the exposed.

The collection, interpretation, and dissemination of data is an important component of community health

The collection, interpretation, and dissemination of data is an important component of community health as highlighted in Chapter 3. We learned of the various ways of collecting data and displaying it for the general public to analyze. In order to implement successful community health programs that will make an impact, we must collect data from various sources to see how extensive the problem is in the community and subsequently design, implement, and evaluate community health programs to address the problem.

For this week’s discussion forum post I would like you to search for data sets from the County of Orange, State of California, and United States health databases for one of the following diseases.

  1. Diabetes
  2. Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)
  3. Mental Health
  4. Cancer
  5. COVID-19

Find the prevalence rate, incidence rate, and mortality rate for your selected disease at the county, state, and federal levels. Also identify who is impacted the most by your selected disease (ethnic group, seniors, children, etc..) Please summarize your findings and provide any charts or other visual aids to present the data you collect.
