Physician Assistant

You have just hired a new employee, Bill Russo, as a Physician Assistant in a busy Emergency Room. As you look through his medical form given to you by HR, you notice that Bill has rehysiciancently been diagnosed with Huntington’s disease, but he did not discuss this with you during his interview or with HR during the hiring process. As a member of the health administration team, what actions should you take, if any, and why? Be sure to consider the privacy of medical records, danger to patients, assumptions/biases, etc. Utilize the Six-Step Process of Ethical Decision Making to help develop your response.

Urinary and endocrine systems

Each week, you will be asked to respond to the prompt or prompts in the discussion forum. Your initial post should be 75-150 words in length and is due on Sunday. By Tuesday, you should respond to two additional posts from your peers.

Practice

Let’s practice at adding suffixes to the root words for the urinary and endocrine systems we are studying this week.  Below are some suffixes that can be used for the medical terminology of most systems. Suffixes are placed at the end of a word root or word part to modify or vary the meaning. Suffixes can indicate a condition, disease, or procedure. When a suffix is written detached it is preceded by a hyphen (-).

Provide a list of 15 root terms with suffixes added.

Include the following aspects in the discussion:

  • Choose five root terms from both systems covered this week (renal and endocrine)
  • Avoid terms peers have used include the root, the suffix, the combined term, and the meaning of the combined term
  • Discuss your peers’ lists. Are they correct? Do you agree with them?
  • Cite any references. At all times proper grammar, sentence structure, and spelling

Operating room

3 – OPERATIVE REPORT (13 errors) PREOPERATIVE DIAGNOSIS: Lesion, left upper eyelid, rule out basil cell carcinoma. POSTOPERATIVE DIAGNOSIS: Lesion, left upper eyelid, rule out basal cell carcinoma. NAME OF PROCEDURE: Excisional biopsy, lesion left upper eyelid. ANESTHESIA: Focal. COMPLICATIONS: None. INDICATIONS: This 77—year—old male patient has had a recurrent lesion in this area. Consent was obtained for incisional biopsy. She was aware of and excepted the risks, including but not limited to, anesthetic, infection, bleeding, scar, recurrence, and possible need for further management. DETAILS OF PROCEDURE: The patient was taken to the operating room where he was positioned in the prone position. A drop of Xylocaine was applied to the left eye. He was prepped with povidone-iodine. A total of 1 mL of 2% lidocaine with 1,100,000 Epinephrine was used to infiltrate the left upper eyelid. Tissue forceps and Westcott scissors were used for excision. This was sent in formalin to pathology. Dovie electric cautery was used for hemostasis. Erythromycin ointment was applied, but no patch. He tolerated the procedure well and left the operating room in good condition.

Health unit

Imagine you are a supervisor on a health unit, and you have an employee constantly complaining about things that are difficult for you as the supervisor to control, such as staffing and wages. The employee is known for being very negative on the unit, often upsets staff, and is clearly negatively affecting morale. What do you think is the best way to manage this employee in terms of your relationship with this employee but also the good of the whole unit? Why do you believe this is the preferred way of managing the situation? What would be an example of an approach that would likely fail or only make the situation worse regarding the unhappy employee and/or the unit as a whole?

Epidemiological and vital statistic data

Review HealthyPeople 2020 overarching goals and objectives/topics. Pick one of the topics and explain what epidemiological and vital statistic data need to be collected in order to plan a community outreach hospital-based program to meet one of the HealthyPeople overarching goals.  Provide an explanation of why you chose that topic and the specific data to collect. How it is going to relate to the chosen overarching goals. Offer a pathway (an epidemiological tool to use) to collect the necessary information.  Refer to two credible sources. The answer may be presented in a table of visual map format. Please do not attach documents.

Theme 2: Learning Activity

Lung cancer is the second most common cancer among men and women in the USA.  You are hired as a manager-planner by one of the hospitals. The organization is interested in establishing a community outreach program promoting smoking cessation and lung cancer screening. The Board of Directors requested your services in processing the data collected through the prospective cohort study among male and female populations visiting the local gym. The data set is attached.  Please use Excel or Epi Info to process the data. Chose the correct epi tool, provide a graphic representation of the processed data set and offer a conclusion as to the causative relationship between smoking and death. List the potential biases and provide a recommendation as to the study’s validity and reliability. Inform the Board of Directors (and your peers) about your findings.

Melatonin gummy

Part 6. Even more 2×2 Practice! 13. A research study is assessing the associations between having kids take a melatonin gummer before bedtime and whether or not the Outcome. the parents say the kids had a good night’s sleep. They enrolled a total of 600 kids, 25% of which took a melatonin gummy before Positive | Negative bed; the other 75% of the participants did not take a melatonin gummy before bed. Of the melatonin gummy takers, 120 Exposure Positive reported having a good night’s sleep. Of the non-gummy takers, 180 reported having a good night’s sleep. Negative

Customer service training

As the Director of Quality & Patient Safety at a mid-sized community hospital, I wish to see improvement in patient satisfaction. I have identified a brief customer service training being used at other hospitals and I wish to test its effectiveness with front-line staff who interact directly with patients and their caregivers to see if there will be an improvement in patient satisfaction scores. The intervention is a three-hour training that addresses tone of voice, eye contact, compassion, and managing conflict. I invite 30 staff members to participate and 15 of them choose to enroll in my study. I examine patient satisfaction scores before the intervention and one week after the intervention.

1) Is this a randomized controlled trial (classic experimental design)? Why or why not?

2) Explain how one confounder (threat to internal validity) could affect the results of my study.

3) What is the independent variable? What is the dependent variable?

4) Suggest at least one way in which I can ensure more rigor in my study (improve internal validity).

Electronic scanning machine

14. Dr. Pimple Popper has developed a new 1-min electronic scanning machine to look for skin cancer in a large age 55+ community in Orange County. California. She wants to know how her scanner CUmpm es [0 a physical. examination and diagnosis. To test this, she developed a protocol that asked community residents to walk through the scanner {which looks similar to a metal detector} while wearing their swimsuits. while visiting the community pool. After walking through the scanner. the residents entered a private room to have a visual skin cancer screening (with biopsies taken if necessary) by a licensed dermatologist. During the summer of 2022, 150 residents agreed to participate in the study. When comparing the scanner to the doctor’s diagnosis. the scanner correctly identified 30 cases of skin cancer. but also gave a positive screening to 5 individuals who did not have skin cancer. According to the doctor’s diagnosis, there were (in reality} 32 cases of skin cancer. Prevalence: Sensitivity: Specificity: Exposure. ‘ PPV: NPV: 15." we made changes to the Dr. Pimple Poppers screening test above so that it was MORE sensitive. what would happen to the specificity?

Pivotal scene

) This movie has won awards for its portrayal of alcoholism, recovery, and relapse. Pick one scene in the movie that you think is a pivotal scene that the director used to make us think about alcoholism. Why do you think this is an important scene in this movie?

2. In the SAME scene that you choose in your answer to question #1

a) choose one film element from this list (lighting or camera angles/shots ),

b) define it

c) discuss how the director used this film element to reinforce the meaning of the scene

Cybersecurity strategy

Concluding Paragraph: Overall, the literature suggests that a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy is needed to mitigate the risks posed by cyber-attacks on healthcare delivery and patient safety. The articles reviewed suggest a range of potential solutions, including employee training, network security, incident response plans, and security measures such as encryption and multi-factor authentication. While there is no single solution that will fully address the issue, it is important for healthcare organizations to prioritize their cybersecurity efforts and focus on protecting critical systems and data. Additionally, increased collaboration between healthcare organizations and government agencies is needed to improve cybersecurity in the industry. Based on the literature review, it would be worth pursuing a solution that prioritizes the protection of critical systems and data and implementing security measures such as encryption and multi-factor authentication.
In addition to these solutions, the literature also highlights the importance of addressing the unique cybersecurity risks associated with telemedicine. As telemedicine continues to grow in popularity, it is crucial that healthcare organizations implement secure communication protocols and network segmentation to protect patient data transmitted over the Internet. Another important aspect that is highlighted in the literature is the need for regular employee training and awareness programs. Cyber-attacks often exploit the lack of knowledge and awareness of employees, hence it is important to regularly educate them on the latest cyber threats and best practices to prevent them.

Overall, the literature review suggests that while there is no single solution that can fully address the issue of cybersecurity attacks and their impact on healthcare delivery and patient safety, a multi-faceted approach that includes a combination of solutions such as employee training, network security, incident response plans, and security measures such as encryption and multi-factor authentication can effectively mitigate the risks. Additionally, healthcare organizations should prioritize their cybersecurity efforts and focus on protecting critical systems and data. Furthermore, increased collaboration between healthcare organizations and government agencies is needed to improve cybersecurity in the healthcare industry.

Follow the steps below to complete the assignment.

  • Select a solution from one of the solutions previously discussed in the literature review.
  • Search the literature to gather more information about your selected solution.
  • Select at least two (2) scholarly articles for inclusion in your description. These may be articles previously cited in the literature review section.
  • Compose a solution description that includes:
    • An in-depth description of the selected solution
    • A discussion of why the selected solution is the best solution to address the issue
    • A description of the implications of the solution on the patient, health care providers, and the health care organization

Your solution description will be one page in length with a separate page for references, which may include published articles and scholarly information from recognized credible patient-safety websites.
