What is a solution-focused approach in social work?
Solution-focused practice concentrates on helping people move towards the future that they want and to learn what can be done differently by using their existing skills, strategies and ideas – rather than focusing on the problem. It was originally developed in the USA in the 1980s and 1990s.

In the discussions on Love and Hate, there were a variety of hypotheses generated as to why emotions can be very intense both for individuals and for societies.

Discuss 2 theories that might be applicable to the current political situation in the US right now and why people might be so polarized. Please do not discuss your personal beliefs, but rather discuss theories why polarization might be happening.

Is it true the deeper the love the deeper the hate?
The results showed that people who shared similar values and interests with the target persons were more likely to experience stronger love. Additionally, stronger feelings of love were associated with greater hate after the relationship was broken, suggesting a link between romantic love and hate.

Do you have an internal or external locus of control?

First, explain how you identify yourself: Do you have an internal or external locus of control? You must provide an explanation of HOW you decided this. Use terminology from your text to help you.

What do you do if you have an external locus of control?
It means that you believe that your own actions have an impact. If you tend to have more of an external locus of control, you might find it helpful to start actively trying to change how you view situations and events.

Then, answer the following questions:

1. How have you used your identified locus of control to benefit you?

2. How does it limit your progress, if at all?

3. Are you satisfied with your identified locus of control?

4. If you want to make changes, what are they and how will you make them?

5. If money or time were not factors, what would you be doing with your life right now?

People who develop an internal locus of control believe that they are responsible for their own success. Those with an external locus of control believe that external forces, like luck, determine their outcomes.
